Last week sum up! Go on a DATE with ur husband!

Last week we had a great conversation about dating.....our husbands that is : )  The chapter we read from our book was about making sure that we spent time as a couple just "dating".  Literally.  Take some time away from the kids, and just be with each other....alone.

I loved hearing all the great ideas and rules everyone had.  Some thoughts we shared...
  • never talk about the kids while out....  and if you do, make a fun game out of it...like whoever brings up the kids 1st has to buy the other an icecream, fav candy bar or something else fun...prize would obviously differ with the couple.
  • Don't worry about what you do on your date so much as who you are with.  Dates don't have to be elaborate or expensive.  A nice stroll on a walking trail or garden area, window shopping at the mall, icecream.....
  • Be intentional - if you have kids this comes without saying....PLAN....call a sitter, whether it be a relative or a responsible childcare worker from the Church or a responsible friend.
  • Don't be afraid of a day date!  Sometimes we think the only time we can date is for dinner.  Not so!  Go out to breakfast or hang out all afternoon and enjoy some sunshine together.  One of the ladies in our group put this into action the very next day and surprised her man with a day date!  Way to go!
  • Dream together.....talk about those things you can't wait to do, places you want to go, dreams you want to see made reality...etc
The point is just take time for one another.  Plan it.  I know it's hard.  It's definitely hard for me and my husband.  But we must take this time to ourselves to grow our marriages.  And our children will grow up with a healthier outlook on what marriage is and with more security knowing that mommy and daddy love one another and take time to be with one another.  Because that is security for them.  Knowing and seeing mommy and daddy not only love them but each other.  We are showing our kids, whether we realize it or not, what marriage looks like.  What love looks like.

So go out, and date your spouse already!

See you ladies tomorrow! SKIA @1pm
